I AM BECAUSE YOU ARE

An experimental collective portrait

Humans cannot exist in isolation. We depend on connection, community, and caring — simply, we cannot be without each other. Who we are is always a composition of the people around us, what they teach us, the stories they tell us, and the mannerisms we pick up from them and become ours. 
In 2021, I decided to make a collective self-portrait to challenge the way in which I portrait myself and showcase some of the people that have made me who I am. This collage is a collections of friends and family, and their influence in me.
